Soloist for Rutter Requiem Sing, July 30, 2007

Soprano Margaret Flanigan, age 17, will be a junior next fall (2007) at Columbia High School in East Greenbush. She has enjoyed singing for most of her life, and began formally studying voice in with Marion Hunter two years ago. Margaret is also a member of Chamber Singers at her school, and plays percussion for the school’s Wind Ensemble. This past year, she participated in Empire State Youth Orchestra’s Melodies of Christmas Choir, as well as the Rensselaer County Choir. Margaret enjoys acting and has been involved in many school musicals where she has played roles such as the Scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz”, Lady Larkin in “Once Upon A Mattress”, and Tzeitel in “Fiddler on the Roof”. She has also participated in community theater, playing the role of Sandy in Staging Youth Future Inc.’s “Grease”, and a narrator in Park Playhouse’s “Aladdin II” last summer. This summer she performed as a sister in Spotlight Players’ “Pirates of Penzance”.

In addition to music, Margaret is on the high honor roll in school, enjoys playing tennis, and lacrosse for Columbia, and is active in Student Council where she was recently elected President of her junior class.
